Aquafit Square Float with Seat

$33.82 $46.34
Generously proportioned, supportive float for swimmers with poor head, arm and leg control and who need extra support around the trunk. A secure, stable and adjustable seat is attached to the float. The seat allows for vertical and forward positioning inside the float. The float also allows for the swimmer to rest back into it, to kick and splash freely while supported in comfort. Alternatively the high, wide sides offer great support for swimmers who tend to lean, arch, stiffen or extend while in the water. Also a great float for swimmers who are peg fed or who have a trach. Sizing: Item 9396XS Inside circumference: 64cms Item 9396S Inside circumference: 84cms Item 9396M Inside circumference: 108cms Item 9396L Inside circumference: 145cms Item 9396XL Inside circumference:160cms Please note: sizes XS and XL do not have side openings. Tips for measuring and determining the size of your float: Your swimmer should be relaxed, looking forward and standing up (or laying down) straight. Avoid taking a measurement when there is wriggling. Measurements should ideally be taken in swimming attire or undergarments - avoid wearing jumpers. DO NOT make allowances for clothes, braces etc. Use a flexible cloth measuring tape (can’t find a fabric tape measure? no problem! you can use some string and a ruler). Measure across the upper chest – arm pit to arm pit and around. Make sure the tape measure at the back is level with the tape measure at the front. Make sure the tape is flat against the skin without being too tight or too loose. Take a couple of measurements to check. Don’t be afraid to have someone assist you, to ensure the soft tape measure is positioned correctly and the measurement is accurate. By following these simple steps when taking underarm and upper chest measurements, you’ll be better equipped to select a well-fitted therapy float which ensures comfort and an enjoyable experience for your swimmer. For the Swimmer with a Disability: For swimmers who have poor head and neck control, it may be necessary to provide additional support with neck floats (SKU9401),swim rings,(SKU9397) or upright floats (SKU 9501 and SKU 9501T) In our video below, Terrell has big head movements where his body frequently moves from arching backwards to curling forward. We found that a combination of the Square Float with Saddle (item 9397S) and Inflatable Swim Ring (item 7187) provided additional all-round support, and when a pair of wrist weights were added to his ankles, Terrell was able to maintain an upright body position. Testimonials: Henry’s mum told TQ about Henry using the Square Float with Saddle (Item 9396XS) for the first time: “He had an absolute ball and did not want to get out. He was such a water boy before he ended up like this so it gives us great joy to see him enjoying the water again. His little legs didn't stop kicking. Thank you so much it is truly wonderful for him”. (Henry is a ventilated quadriplegic). Chrysoula, our swimmer in pink ( featured in photo gallery) has a tracheotomy. Her physical therapist says that the square float with saddle is the best float available in the market, to protect her tracheal tube.
